Mobile Motion Capture (MiMiC) System

Researchers are developing a Mobile Motion Capture (MiMiC) System that uses smartphone technology and motion sensors to capture ergonomics data in the poultry plant environment, which is then used to assess workers’ movements as they perform their jobs without needing assistance from experts and expensive equipment. The creation of the MiMiC System is meant to be the main building block to bring motion capture into the workplace for better analysis of worker safety issues in areas such as slip/fall detection and prediction, ergonomic stress in lifting, deboning, and worker training. The key purpose of MiMiC is to optimize the worker’s performance, leading to increased productivity while reducing the risk of injury.
